Waterproof & Underwater Metal Detectors

Waterproof covers a lot of ground, so check the depth rating before you buy. Most modern detectors are rated to around 10 feet, which is fine for wading and surf hunting but not for diving. Machines built for real submersion, such as the Minelab Excalibur II, Garrett ATX and Fisher Impulse AQ, go far deeper and use hard-wired headphones, because Bluetooth does not travel through water. One more thing worth knowing: a waterproof coil does not make the control box waterproof. Read the rating on the machine, not the coil.
