Dr. Sluice Drop Riffle Sluice Boxes

Drop riffles work differently to the standard raised riffle. Instead of creating a rolling eddy above the mat, the recess drops below the flow line so heavies fall into a dead zone and stay there, which is why these boxes hold fine gold in slower water than a conventional sluice needs. The Original at 27.5 inches is the general-purpose box and the Prospector is shorter for packing in. Both are worth a look if you are working a creek that does not give you much gradient.
