A belt mount harness is the low-profile alternative to a full swing harness. The clamp fixes to the detector shaft and the mount sits on your belt, so the machine's weight rests on your hips rather than being held out by your forearm. It is particularly worth it on heavy control-box machines and long hunts, and it does not restrict your upper body the way a shoulder harness can when you are bending to dig. Round and square shaft clamps are available depending on your detector.
