Picking a detector comes down to three questions: where you will swing it, what you are hoping to find, and how much ground noise you are willing to fight. Coin and relic hunters in mineralized soil want real ground balance and a tight discrimination pattern. Beach and surf hunters need a fully waterproof housing and multi-frequency or pulse induction performance in salt. Gold prospectors want high frequency and sensitivity to sub-gram targets. We carry the full range from Minelab, Garrett, Nokta, XP, Fisher, Teknetics and Quest, from first detectors under a few hundred dollars to competition machines, and we would rather talk you into the right one than the expensive one.
