Tesoro Compadre

The Compadre is proof that a detector does not need a screen. One knob, one coil, a 12 kHz signal and about two pounds of weight, and it will find coins and jewelry at park depths all day on a single nine-volt battery. Detectorists bought them as loaners, as trashy-site machines, and as something to hand a child, and then kept using them because in dense iron the tiny 5.75 inch coil separates targets that a big modern coil smears together.
