Shipping information

Free shipping on all orders within the continental USA. Prospectors Dream items are the one exception — shipping on those is calculated at checkout.

In-stock orders placed before 3:00 PM ET on a business day usually ship the same day. Orders placed after 1:00 PM ET on a Friday are processed the following Monday.

Some shipments require a signature on delivery. Oversize items ship by freight, average 7–10 business days, and are delivered by appointment.

We also ship to Canada and 200+ countries where the manufacturer permits it. Import duties, taxes and brokerage fees are the recipient's responsibility.

Returns & warranty

30-day returns. If something isn't right, contact us within 30 days of delivery and we'll sort it out.

Items should come back unused, in their original packaging, with the manual and warranty card. Faulty out of the box or our mistake, and we cover shipping both ways.

Every detector we sell carries the manufacturer's warranty, and we'll help you make a claim rather than sending you off to do it alone.

The Quest X1 IDMAXX offers an effortless entry point into true metal detecting. Built on Quest's proven IDMAXX platform, this genuine 12 kHz VLF machine weighs just over 2 lbs and features a waterproof 9x5 inch TurboD coil. While toy detectors deliver false signals and advanced models overwhelm beginners with menus, the X1 provides a clean two-digit target ID, three simple search modes, and one-button pinpointing in a design easy enough for a child to master. Its convertible three-section shaft adjusts quickly to fit kids or adults, making it a great choice for the entire family.

Built for First Finds, Not First Frustrations

The X1 categorizes every metallic target on a conductivity scale ranging from iron up to gold, bronze, and silver. It pairs the digital target ID with low, middle, and high audio tones so you can identify targets by ear as well as sight. Silver coins and quarters produce a high signal, while pull tabs and foil register lower on the scale. Three preset search programs simplify operation:

  • Coin Mode: Runs stable with a tight ID range tailored for parks and lawns.
  • Jewelry Mode: Opens up sensitivity and recovery speed to detect gold rings and fine jewelry.
  • All Metal Mode: Disables discrimination to maximize depth for relic hunting and gold prospecting.

Ground balance settings help minimize chatter in mineralized soil. The waterproof TurboD coil uses dual windings to maintain stable readings where standard concentric coils struggle. The control unit easily withstands rain, though the X1 is intended for land and shoreline use, so keep the main housing above the water line.
