Andre’s Coin & Relic Cleaning Pencil Set

Restore your finds with precision using Andre’s high-quality cleaning pencils—perfect for coins and relics.

This versatile set is an excellent addition to any cleaning toolkit, designed for careful, controlled cleaning without damaging delicate surfaces. Ideal for bronze coins such as Indian Head Pennies and 2-cent pieces, and also effective on copper and other metals.

Available Sets:

  • Pencil Set of 4:
    • Complete set of Andre’s cleaning pencils—great for everyday coin and relic cleaning tasks.
  • Pencil Set of 4 + Fiberglass Tip Pencil
    • Includes the full pencil set plus a fiberglass tip pencil for tackling tougher jobs and stubborn encrustations. For best results, gently scrape the surface in small circular motions. Lightly dampening the tip can improve cleaning performance.

Pencil Directions and recommendations:

  • Use the two hard-point pencils in small circular motions. Begin with light pressure and gradually increase as needed.
  • Dry cleaning is recommended—avoid using water, as it may damage coins or their natural patina.
  • The hard-point pencils are excellent for removing tough, concrete-like dirt and encrustations.
  • Alternate between the hard-point pencils and the brush pencil. The brush helps you monitor progress and is ideal for finishing touches.
  • The brass scalpel should be used at the start of cleaning when dealing with very hard crust. Stop before reaching the actual coin surface to avoid damage.
  • Do NOT get the brush pencil wet, as moisture can cause rust.
  • The steel-wool brush works well on copper and nickel coins with light dirt—use gently for best results.

Fiberglass Pencil Directions and recommendations:

  • Use the pencil in small circular motions, starting gently and adjusting pressure as needed.
  • Dry cleaning is preferred to preserve the coin’s patina—avoid water whenever possible.
  • Highly effective for removing stubborn, hardened dirt and encrustations.
